If you're an artist in the greater Mid-Coast Maine area seeking more information about joining the Collective, this is your page.
Here are the basics:
- You must apply and be juried; there is no fee for this
- Artists pay rent based on space size; currently from $100-$250/month
- Artists pay zero commission
- Artists work 3 shifts per month; shifts are 3-4 hours
- We have no geographic non-compete requirement
Artists contribute in multiple ways, as we can and as we are able, to support the Collective -- painting, cleaning, decorating, designing collateral -- working together. Decisions are generally made democratically. Management exists to keep things organized, and to handle procurement and accounting.
The Collective is very much about finding an area where fine art and sale-ability intersect, and making that area as wide and inclusive as possible. Because the location and space are so epic, it works well to consider it a showroom -- your showroom. The more you can be present to meet customers and work with fellow makers, generally the better (your) sales are.
Still here? Still interested? Great!
The next thing you should probably see is our current Member Contract. This might answer some of the questions you have about membership at Lemont.
Keep in mind that you can always write us directly via our Contact Form (which sends an email to Owners@ARLMaine.com)
And then finally, if you'd like to be considered for space at the Collective, please head to our online Application. This is how we collect information in a uniform manner, so that our jury can properly follow up and evaluate.
After we receive a completed application, your membership will depend on availability of an appropriate space, and jury approval. A jury of our current Collective members evaluates all interested applicants, using the samples, images, pricing, websites, and other information provided by the applicant.
... So that's how it works! Please reach out to us if you have questions or difficulties!
